Scope

This standard specifies the test method for the filiform corrosion resistance of paint and varnish coatings on the surface of aluminum and aluminum alloys and the evaluation method for the degree of filiform corrosion. This standard applies to aluminum and aluminum alloy surface paints and varnish coatings, and evaluates the filiform corrosion resistance of the tested coating/substrate. This standard is not applicable to assess the filiform corrosion resistance of electrophoretic paint, acrylic resin paint and other aluminum-based surface coatings that are not resistant to saturated gas phase hydrochloric acid.
