Introduction

Core changes in the standard revision

Dimensions 2010 Edition 2022 Edition
Terminology 17 terms 13 new terms (such as risk, quality control, etc.), and 2 obsolete terms deleted
Structural framework 7 chapters 11 chapters, with new independent chapters such as supervision principles and start-up/closing process
Risk management No clear requirements Newly added 4.1 risk thinking principle, requiring the establishment of a risk management and control mechanism for the entire process

Key points for the implementation of key elements

Setting of supervision control points

According to Clause 8.1.4 of the standard, three types of control points need to be distinguished:

  • R point (document witness): review of design drawings, process documents, etc.
  • W point (on-site witness): key processes such as welding and heat treatment process
  • H point (stop point): supervisor signature confirmation is required before pressure testing

Case: A petrochemical project set 12 W points and 3 H points in the reactor manufacturing, which effectively prevented the problem of material misuse.

Suggestions for the connection between the old and new standards

  1. Update quality management system documents and supplement risk management procedures
  2. Revise the supervision plan template and add a supervision control point matrix
  3. Carry out personnel training, focusing on mastering the newly added terms (such as 3.10 Equipment Supervision Definition)
