Scope

This International Standard addresses the development, publication and enforcement of protocols for the recognition and acceptance of the work results of bodies engaged in similar conformity assessment and related activities. This standard applies to activities related to cross-border market transactions that are not regulated by the government. Although this standard may be referenced by intergovernmental agreements governing transactions in goods and services, this standard is illustrative and general in nature and does not specifically address those special requirements that may be specified in intergovernmental agreements.
