Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for controlgear and switchgear for generating sets with reciprocating internal combustion engines. This standard applies to alternating current (ac) generating sets powered by reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines for land and marine use. It does not apply to generating sets for aviation or for driving land vehicles and locomotives.
