Analysis of key rolling resistance indicators
Take passenger car radial tires as an example:
- Limit requirements: Ordinary tires ≤10.5 N/kN, snow/run-flat tires are relaxed to 11.5 N/kN
- Grading: Grade 1 (≤6.5) to Grade 5 (10.6-11.5), products that do not meet the standards are not included in the grading
Testing system innovation
Standards establish a dual benchmark laboratory system:
- For passenger car/light truck tires (load index ≤121)
- For heavy truck tires (load index＞121)
The rolling resistance value interval of the calibrated tire is required to be controlled within (1.0±0.5)N/kN, and the section width is ≤245mm/385mm according to the type
Implementation suggestions
Manufacturers should focus on:
- Establish a laboratory data traceability system and verify the correlation coefficient regularly
- Special tires (such as snow tires) need to reserve a limit margin of 1.0 N/kN
- A judgment value tolerance of 0.3 N/kN needs to be considered when declaring the grade
