Comparison of core determination methods

Technical breakthrough of mercury intrusion porosimetry

Constant rate mercury intrusion instrument (4.2.2) can separate the following by injecting mercury at an extremely low rate of 0.00005mL/min:

  • Throat capillary pressure curve
  • Pore capillary pressure curve
  • Pore-throat ratio distribution (Appendix A.3)

The pressure sensor has an accuracy of ±0.05%FS and needs to be used in conjunction with a dedicated filtering algorithm (4.4.6.2)


Pore structure characterization system

13 key parameters can be calculated from the capillary pressure curve:

  1. Average throat radius (A.1)
  2. Average pore radius (A.2)
  3. Structural coefficient φp (A.10)

Wherein, the calculation formula for the sorting coefficient Sp (A.6) is:
