Scope

This standard specifies a standard method for the measurement of the viscosity-average degree of polymerization (DPv) of new and aged cellulose electrical insulating materials. This standard applies to all cellulose insulating materials, such as cellulose insulating materials used in transformers, cables, capacitors and other products. The test method described in this standard is also applicable to the determination of the intrinsic viscosity of kraft paper which can be completely dissolved in the selected solvent after chemical modification. Use caution when applying the test methods described in this standard to waxed kraft paper.
