Scope

This part of GB/T 31971 specifies the method for quantitatively determining performance data of oil skimmers under dynamic water conditions, so that end users can objectively judge, compare and evaluate the design and performance of different types of oil skimmers. This method is suitable for testing in water tanks and specifies the characteristics of the oil and the control requirements for the characteristics of the floating oil. This section applies to all types of oil skimmers whose equipment size is within the limits of the test tank size. Under controlled conditions, this test procedure provides a full range of test results for the device under test and one or more oils. NOTE: Caution should be exercised when using these test results to predict the performance of oil skimmers under actual operating conditions.
