1. Standard Overview
GB/T32350.2-2015 "Rail Transit Insulation Coordination Part 2: Overvoltage and Related Protection" is China's first standard specifically for rail transit overvoltage protection. It is based on the international standard IEC62497-2:2010 and has been adaptively modified based on China's actual situation.

3. Background of Standard Formulation
With the rapid development of urban rail transit in China, the overvoltage problem faced by the power supply system has become increasingly prominent. The formulation of this standard aims to unify and standardize the insulation coordination technical requirements in the field of rail transit and improve the safety and reliability of equipment.
Case Study: Application of Metal Oxide Surge Arrester
In the rail transit power supply system, metal oxide surge arrester is an important overvoltage protection device. For example, in the practice of Zhuzhou CSR Times Electric Co., Ltd., the reference voltage UP value of the surge arrester was determined through simulation tests (see Table 1) to ensure that it effectively limits the instantaneous overvoltage.
4. Analysis of Technology Evolution
From IEC62497-2 to GB/T32350.2, the technical core of the standard lies in the simulation and test methods of overvoltage. The development trends in recent years include:
- Simulation technology upgrade: From simple voltage measurement to complex long pulse and short pulse simulation.
- Protection equipment optimization: The response speed and withstand voltage capability of metal oxide arresters have been significantly improved.
5. Implementation suggestions
Test verification:Suppliers are advised to conduct special overvoltage protection tests for key components according to standard requirements. For example, for equipment with a nominal grid voltage of 1500V, it should be ensured that it can withstand the reference voltage UP value specified in Table 1.
Maintenance management: Establish a regular inspection and maintenance system, especially for key equipment such as metal oxide arresters, monitor their aging status and replace them in time.
