Introduction
Introduction
GB/T32678-2016 "Highly dispersed precipitated hydrated silica for rubber compounding" is China's standard for highly dispersed precipitated hydrated silica (referred to as white carbon black) in the rubber industry. It stipulates its terms and definitions, classification and naming methods, technical requirements and test methods.
Comparison of standard frameworks
| Dimensions | GB/T32678—2016 | International reference standards | Enterprise custom standards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terms and definitions | Clearly define the definition of highly dispersed precipitated hydrated silica and its dispersion requirements | Consistent with ISO standards | Some companies adopt internal detailed standards |
| Classification and naming methods | 6-character code, including dispersion, adsorption specific surface area and other indicators | Refer to EU RAL standards | Optimize in combination with the actual production characteristics of the enterprise |
| Test method | Including the determination of indicators such as particle size distribution and specific surface area | Adopting ASTM international standards | Some companies have added internal testing items |
Technical indicator analysis
Key indicators: median particle size (D50) and particle ratio (R18)
D50 represents the particle size corresponding to the cumulative percentage of the laser particle size distribution of the sample reaching 50%, in microns (μm). R18 represents the proportion of particles with a diameter greater than 18μm.
For example, in the HD 145 product, D50 is 4.3±1.0μm, and R18≤5%. This shows that the particle size distribution uniformity of the product is high and meets the high dispersion requirements.
Actual Application Cases
Application in Solution Polystyrene Butadiene Rubber
According to Appendix A, GB/T32678-2016 provides standard formulas and mixing procedures. For example, adding HD 145 products to solution polystyrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) can significantly improve the tensile strength and modulus of the rubber.
Test results show:
- ML value decreased by about 10%
- MH value increased by about 8%
- 300% modulus increased by 5-7 MPa
Implementation Suggestions
Standardized Management:It is recommended that enterprises strictly follow GB/T32678-2016 in product naming and classification during the production process to ensure product quality consistency.
Improvement of detection methods:It is recommended to introduce automated particle size analyzers and specific surface area testing equipment to improve detection efficiency and accuracy.
Optimization of practical applications:It is recommended to select highly dispersed precipitated hydrated silica products with appropriate dispersion according to the specific rubber type (such as S-SBR or BR) to achieve optimal performance.
