Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard is equivalent to the IEC TS 60034-30-2:2016 international standard, which is specifically designed for variable speed AC motors. It complements GB/T 32891.1 (grid-powered motors) and together they form a complete IE code energy efficiency standard framework.

Scope and restrictions

Inclusion typesExclusion types
• 0.12-1000kW variable speed motor
• 50-1000V voltage range
• Permanent magnet/reluctance synchronous motor
• Induction motor for variable frequency
• Mechanical commutator motor
• Integrated non-separable motor
• Submersible/explosion-proof special motor
• Servo drive motor

Key technical requirements

Energy efficiency grading system

The IE1-IE5 five-level energy efficiency system is adopted, with IE5 being the most efficient level. The test needs to be carried out at 90% of the rated speed, using the comparative inverter method specified in IEC TS 60034-2-3.

Key test parameters

  • Additional harmonic loss factor: 15% for ≤90kW, 25% for >90kW
  • Environmental reference temperature: 25±5℃
  • Altitude correction reference: 1000m

Typical application scenarios

In continuous operation equipment such as compressors and conveyor belts, selecting IE3 and above energy-efficient motors can achieve significant energy savings. However, it should be noted that the use of high-efficiency motors for short-time working equipment may increase energy consumption.

Implementation suggestions

  1. Preferably use IE3/IE4 grade motors to meet national energy-saving requirements
  2. High-power (>90kW) equipment needs to pay special attention to the impact of harmonic losses
  3. Use with IEC 61800-9-2 to evaluate the energy efficiency of the complete drive system
