Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 33048—2016 "Determination of Optical Compensation Value of Polarizer" is one of the important standards in the field of optical functional film materials in my country. The standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Optical Functional Film Materials. The main drafting unit is Shenzhen Shengbo Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.

With the development of display technology, polarizers and their compensation films are increasingly used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In order to ensure the stability and consistency of optical performance, it is particularly important to formulate a unified measurement method. The introduction of this standard fills the gap in related fields in China and provides a scientific basis for the production and testing of polarizers.

2. Standard framework and technological evolution

Standard dimensions Scope definition Technical requirements Test methods
Scope of application Single-layer optical compensation film and polarizer with compensation film In-plane compensation value (R_e) and out-of-plane compensation value (R_th) Phase difference measurement instrument
Core terms Optical compensation value, ordinary light, extraordinary light Relationship between refractive index difference and film thickness Miller matrix model calculation
Technical Details Phase difference compensation calculation formula Light source wavelength range: 400nm~800nm Environmental condition control (temperature, humidity)

Actual application case analysis

Take a certain LCD manufacturer as an example, it is necessary to strictly test the optical compensation value of the polarizer during the production process. By using a phase difference measuring instrument that meets the standard requirements, the compensation values in the plane and out of the plane can be accurately obtained, thereby ensuring the stability of the display effect.

3. Test methods and implementation suggestions

Test equipment configuration

  • Light source: White halogen lamp, wavelength range 400nm~800nm
  • Polarizing system and analyzer system: Rotation accuracy ±0.1°
  • Sample stage: With rotation and translation functions, tilt angle range -50°~50°

Test step optimization suggestions

  1. Ensure the alignment of the optical path and adjust the initial position of the polarizer and analyzer
  2. Place the sample to be tested, paying attention to the parallelism and flatness requirements
  3. Test the light intensity values at different angles in the standard sequence and record the data
