1. Standard scope and applicability

This standard applies to cylinder valves on liquefied dimethyl ether cylinders with an ambient temperature of -40℃~+60℃, a nominal working pressure of 1.6MPa, and a nominal volume of no more than 150L. It is not applicable to liquefied dimethyl ether cylinder valves for vehicles.

2. Background of standard formulation

With the widespread application of liquefied dimethyl ether in urban gas, it is crucial to ensure the safety of its storage and transportation. The formulation of GB/T 33146-2016 standard aims to standardize the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of liquefied dimethyl ether cylinder valves to ensure the safe operation of gas cylinders.

Material requirements:

  • Main components such as valve body and valve stem are made of HPb59-1 bar material, which complies with GB/T 4423 and GB/T 5231.
  • The handwheel must pass the fire resistance test and can still manually close the valve after burning in a flame of 800℃~1000℃ for 1 minute.

Seal requirements:

  • Non-metallic seals must pass aging resistance, low temperature resistance and medium compatibility tests.
  • Volume expansion rate ≤15%, mass loss rate ≤10% (23℃±2℃, soaked in liquefied dimethyl ether for 168 hours).

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:

  1. Manufacturing companies should establish a sound quality management system and conduct material inspection and finished product inspection in strict accordance with the requirements of the standard.
  2. Regularly follow up on the use of bottle valves to promptly identify and resolve potential problems.
  3. Strengthen technical personnel training to ensure that relevant personnel are familiar with the content and technical requirements of the standard.
