Scope

This standard specifies a method for the determination of electrical conductivity and electrical resistance of coatings. This standard applies to the determination of the electrical conductivity of water-based paints and varnishes including electrophoretic paints and the measurement of the resistance of solvent-based paints and varnishes. Paint resistivity can be calculated from these measured conductivity or resistance if required. In the presence of an electric field, the electrical conductivity will affect the workability of the coating, which is especially important for electrophoretic coatings and electrostatically applied coatings.
