3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 29840-2013, NB/T 42040-2014 as well as the following apply. For the convenience of application, some terms and definitions specified in GB/T 29840-2013 are listed below.

3.1
vanadium flow battery; VFB
energy storage device that realizes the mutual conversion of electric energy and chemical energy through the electrochemical reaction of vanadium ions with different valence in positive and negative electrolyte. It is also called vanadium flow battery system

Note: The vanadium flow battery is mainly composed of power unit (stack or module), energy storage unit (electrolyte and storage tank), electrolyte delivery unit (pipeline, valve, pump, heat exchanger, etc.) and battery management system, etc.

[GB/T 29840-2013, Definition 2.1]

3.2
state of charge; SOC
ratio of the actual (remaining) dischargeable energy capacity to the actual dischargeable maximum energy capacity of the battery

5 Test preparation

5.1 General

For each test, appropriate measuring instruments and equipment shall be selected and a test plan shall be formulated to minimize the uncertainty. All test parties shall formulate a written test plan based on this standard, and the following items shall be included in the test plan:

a) purpose;

b) test specification;

c) qualification of test personnel;

d) the uncertainty of result shall meet the requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 98-3;

e) requirements for measuring instruments and equipment;

f) estimation of test parameter range;

g) data acquisition plan (meeting the requirements of 5.2).

5.2 Data acquisition and recording

To meet the requirements of target errors, the data acquisition system and data recording equipment shall meet the requirements of acquisition frequency and speed, and their performance shall be superior to those of test equipment.

6 Test conditions

Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be carried out under the conditions specified in this standard:

——ambient temperature: 25℃±5℃;

——humidity of air: 5%~95%;

——electrolyte temperature: 30℃±5℃.

7 Measuring instruments

7.1 General

Measuring instruments shall be qualified according to the relevant national metrological verification regulations or relevant standards, within the validity period and meet the measurement accuracy index specified by the manufacturer.

7.2 Electrical measurement

7.2.1 Measuring range of the instrument

The range of instruments used shall be determined by the magnitude of the voltage or current to be measured, i.e., the reading shall be within the last third of the range.

7.2.2 Voltage measurement

The instruments used for measuring voltage shall be voltmeters of Grade 0.5 or higher accuracy, of which the internal resistance shall be at least 1kΩ/V.
Note: Other measuring instruments with the same accuracy may also be used for measuring the above voltage.

7.2.3 Current measurement

The instruments used for measuring current shall be ammeters of Grade 0.5 or higher accuracy.

Note: Other measuring instruments with the same accuracy may also be used for measuring the above current.

7.2.4 Electric energy measurement

The instruments used for measuring electric energy shall be instruments of Grade 0.5 or higher accuracy.
