This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 342 on Fuel Cell and Flow Battery of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 342).

Test Methods for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Power System at Subzero Environment

1 Scope

This standard specifies the general safety requirements, test conditions, test platform, routine test before subzero test, subzero test method and test report of proton exchange membrane fuel cell power system at subzero (below 0℃) environment.

This standard is applicable to the test for storage, startup and working performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell power system with air as oxidant at subzero (below 0℃) environment.

This standard is applicable to the complete fuel cell power system.

Note: the system is composed of some or all of the following components as needed to achieve the set function:

——Fuel processing system: the system that meters, conditions, processes, and regulates the pressure of the fuel required for fuel cell power system.

——Air processing system: the system that meters, conditions, processes, and pressurizes the air required for fuel cell power system.

——Thermal management system: the system that provides cooling and heat dissipation functions to maintain thermal balance within the fuel cell power system; it also recovers residual heat and assists in heating the relevant components in the system during startup.

——Water processing system: the system that processes the recovered or added water for use in the fuel cell system.

——Power regulating system: the system that controls the electric energy generated to match with the power demand specified by the user.

——Automatic control system: the system that consists of sensors, actuators, valves, switches and logic elements, which is used to maintain the parameters of fuel cell power system within the range set by the manufacturer without manual intervention.

——Ventilation system: the system that provides air to the cabinet of fuel cell power system by natural or mechanical means.

——Fuel cell stack: an assembly that consists of a plurality of single cells, pole plates, cooling plates, shared pipelines and support structures. The typical function is to convert hydrogen-rich gas and air into direct current, heat, water and other by-products through electrochemical reaction.

——Fuel cell module: consists of one or more fuel cell stacks, electrical coupling devices for transmitting electrical energy of the stack, and monitoring devices.

——Built-in energy storage device: the energy storage device equipped inside the system to help or supplement the fuel cell module to supply power to internal or external load.
