Introduction
GB/T 33997—2017: In-depth interpretation of the format specification of lunar and planetary data products
Background and significance of the standard
Lunar and planetary exploration data products are the basis of scientific research. This standard was formulated by the National Technical Committee for Space Science and Its Application Standardization, aiming to unify the generation, distribution and application processes of data products. The standard refers to international specifications (such as CCSDS and PDS) to ensure the compatibility and availability of data.
Data product classification and format
| Classification | Main content | Applicable scenarios |
|---|---|---|
| Level 0 data product | Raw scientific data, unprocessed. | Applicable to scenarios where raw data from probes need to be directly obtained. |
| Level 1 Data Products | Preliminary processed data, including basic corrections and engineering parameters. | Suitable for basic scientific research needs. |
| Level 2 Data Products | Highly processed data, including geometric positioning and scientific interpretation. | Suitable for advanced scientific analysis and visualization applications. |
Data Label and Object Structure
Data products consist of two parts: and data objects. Tags include identifying elements (such as PRODUCT_NAME, TARGET_NAME) and descriptive elements (such as INSTRUMENT_NAME, QUALITY_STATE). Data objects are divided into image and table classes, which use band sequential storage and pixel interleaving storage respectively.
Example: Chang'e-3 Extreme Ultraviolet Camera 2B Data Label Example
PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3
PRODUCT_NAME = 'EUVC-1 Science Data Product'
TARGET_NAME = MOON
INSTRUMENT_NAME = Extreme Ultraviolet Camera
Recommendations for Standard Implementation
- Data generating units should strictly follow the standard to classify and format data products.
- During data distribution, complete data label information must be provided to improve data parseability.
- Users are advised to carefully read the descriptive elements in the data label before using the data to understand the applicability and limitations of the data.
