Introduction

GB/T34063-2017 Standard Overview

GB/T34063-2017 "Guidelines for Ergonomic Design of Urban Public Transportation Facilities" is my country's first recommended national standard for ergonomic design of urban public transportation facilities. This standard stipulates the design principles and technical requirements of urban public transportation facilities based on human physiological characteristics, usage habits and psychological needs.

Ergonomic design principles for main facilities

Facility name Key design parameters Applicable standards Technical requirements
Traffic signs Clarity and visibility of information transmission GB/T15565.2-2008 Character size, color contrast, location layout
Traffic lights Display time and light color design GB/T16251-2008 Duration, light color recognizability, location visibility
Sidewalks Effective width and layout design GB/T10000-2008 Bottleneck width, isolation design, and safety island setting

Implementation suggestions and practical applications

Case Study: Sidewalk Reconstruction Project

The sidewalks in a city center area are not wide enough, leading to pedestrian congestion during peak hours. According to the GB/T34063-2017 standard, the design team made the following optimizations to the area:

  • Increase the width of the sidewalk at the bottleneck from 2 meters to 3 meters
  • Introduce a curb elevation design to ensure the separation of pedestrians and non-motor vehicles
  • Add a safety island to provide temporary resting space

After the transformation, the pedestrian traffic efficiency in the area increased by 40% and the accident rate decreased by 50%.

Future Development Trends

With the acceleration of urbanization and the development of intelligent transportation systems, the GB/T34063-2017 standard will promote the design of more intelligent and humanized transportation facilities. In the future, dynamically adjusted intelligent sign systems, wearable device interaction interfaces, and ergonomic optimization based on big data analysis will become important development directions.
