GB/T 10000:2023 Human dimensions of Chinese adults

1 Scope

This document presents the basic statistical values of human dimensions of Chinese adults for technical design, including static human dimensions and human functional dimensions for workspace design.

This document is applicable to the design, technical transformation and renewal of equipment and facilities for adult consumer goods, transportation, clothing, home, construction, labor protection, military and other production and service products, as well as the design and ergonomic evaluation of various workspaces related to human dimensions, such as operation, maintenance and safety protection workspaces.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

standing posture
posture that the body of the subject is kept erect, with head oriented in the Frankfurt plane, eyes looking straight ahead, shoulders relaxed, upper extremities hanging freely, hands extended, palms inward, fingers gently touching the side of thighs, heels together, front ends apart at an angle of about 45°, and the weight equally distributed on both feet

sitting posture
posture that the torso of the subject is erect, with head oriented in the Frankfurt plane, eyes looking straight ahead, knees bent basically at right angles, and feet flat on the floor

middle fingertip height over head, sitting
distance from the middle fingertip to the sitting surface in sitting posture, with the upper extremities reaching upward vertically

kneeling posture
posture that the subject kneels on the horizontal floor with chest out, head oriented in the Frankfurt plane, eyes looking straight ahead, shoulders relaxed, upper extremities hanging freely, hands extended, palms toward the body, fingers gently touching the side of thighs, torso and thighs straight, and the front surfaces of thighs aligned flat, lower legs level and lower extremities together

kneeling length
horizontal distance, parallel to sagittal plane, between the most protruding part of the front surface of thigh and the toe tip (the first or second toe) in kneeling posture

kneeling height
distance from the vertex to the horizontal floor in kneeling posture

prone posture
posture that the subject lies prone on a horizontal plane, with torso and lower extremities stretching freely, lower extremities together, upper extremities horizontally stretched forward freely and the distance between upper extremities the same as the shoulder breadth, palms inward, fingers straight together, chin up as much as possible, and eyes looking straight ahead

prone position length
horizontal distance, parallel to the sagittal plane, from the toe tip (the first or second toe) to the grip axis in prone posture

prone position height
distance from the vertex to the horizontal floor in prone posture

3.10
crawling posture
posture that the torso of the subject is straight, with the lower extremities together, thighs vertical to the horizontal plane, lower legs horizontal, and the dorsum of the feet stretched straight, the distance between arms the same as the shoulder breadth and the arms supporting the torso vertically on a horizontal plane, chin up as much as possible, and eyes looking straight ahead
