Scope

This standard defines the basic requirements for surveys of marine sediment interstitial organisms, and establishes general regulations and methods for surveys of sediments, suspended matter, foraminifera, ostracods, radiolarians, sedimentary diatoms, coccoliths, sedimentary spores, benthic viruses, benthic microorganisms (including bacteria, archaea and fungi), benthic microalgae, benthic protozoa, small benthic metazoans, etc. This standard is applicable to marine surveys of different benthic habitats in coastal areas, shallow seas and deep seas, both nearshore and offshore.
