This standard specifies the method for determining the water-soluble content in precipitated hydrated silica by the conductivity method, which is applicable to precipitated hydrated silica produced by the sulfuric acid method. Products produced by other production methods can be used as a reference.

Taking the precipitated hydrated silica produced by the sulfuric acid method as an example, the water-soluble content was determined by the conductivity method. The results showed that this method has high accuracy and repeatability. For example, the regression equation calculation example provided in Appendix A shows how to use the standard reference solution to establish a calibration curve and apply it to the determination of actual samples.

Implementation Recommendations

  • Equipment Selection:It is recommended to use a conductivity meter equipped with a conductivity electrode with a constant of 1.0 cm⁻¹ to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Sample Preparation:For granulated precipitated hydrated silica samples, they need to be ground in a mortar and passed through a Φ200mm×25mm/0.25mm test sieve.
  • Quality Control: Regularly calibrate the instrument to ensure the validity of the regression equation and update the laboratory's regression model according to the company's production situation.
