Background of Standard Formulation
With the growing global demand for renewable energy, ocean energy has attracted widespread attention as a clean and sustainable form of energy. As an important part of ocean energy, the resource survey and assessment of ocean current energy is the basic work for its development and utilization. The formulation of GB/T 34910.4—2017 fills the domestic standardization gap in the field of ocean current energy resource survey and assessment, and provides technical support for the scientific development and rational utilization of marine resources.

Implementation suggestions
1. Survey plan formulation
- Based on regional characteristics, give priority to selecting high-value blocks of current energy for survey.
- Reasonably design survey sections and stations to ensure the representativeness and scientificity of data.
- Combining multiple survey methods (such as fixed-point ship, anchor buoy, cruise, etc.) to improve data coverage.
2. Implementation of technical indicators
- Select observation instruments (such as ADCP, direct-reading current meter, etc.) in strict accordance with standard requirements to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Adjust the observation level according to the water depth and sea area characteristics to ensure the accuracy of the data.
- Standardize the data to meet the relevant requirements of GB/T 34910.1-2017.
3. Resource assessment and report writing
- Based on the survey data, comprehensively analyze key indicators such as ocean current power density and average power density.
- Determine the resource zoning level (rich area, relatively rich area, usable area, poor area) according to the classification standards in Table 3.
- The report writing must comply with the requirements of GB/T 34910.1-2017, and supplement the analysis and evaluation content of the survey results.
