Introduction

Interpretation of the Monitoring Specification for Citrus Huanglongbing GB/T 35333—2017

Background and Significance of the Standard

Citrus Huanglongbing is a quarantine pest caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, which seriously harms citrus plants. The formulation of this standard aims to standardize the epidemic monitoring procedures and methods to ensure effective control of the spread of the disease.

Monitoring Scope and Regional Division

The standard applies to epidemic monitoring of Citrus, Citrus and Fortunella plants. The areas are divided into non-occurrence areas, occurrence areas and seedling breeding bases, and different monitoring strategies are adopted respectively.

Regional type Monitoring focus Monitoring methods
Non-occurrence areas Areas with high epidemic risk, areas on the edge of citrus psyllid, etc. Visits and surveys
Occurrence areas Representative plots Visits, surveys and fixed-point monitoring
Seedling breeding base All citrus seedlings Implemented in accordance with GB5040-2003

Monitoring methods and implementation process

Monitoring steps in non-occurrence areas

  • Visit survey:Ask fruit farmers and agricultural technicians and record the disease situation.
  • Survey:Carry out on-site inspections in key areas, and immediately mark and sample any suspicious symptoms.

Monitoring steps in occurrence areas

  • Occurrence range monitoring:Determine the specific area through visit surveys and surveys.
  • Occurrence extent monitoring:Each county has 3 monitoring points, each with an area of more than 1 hectare, and uses the five-point sampling method to randomly survey 10 plants.

Disease diagnosis and indoor testing

When diagnosis cannot be made on site, suspected samples need to be collected and brought back to the laboratory for identification according to GB/T 29393-2012. Typical symptoms include:

Case study: mottled yellowing and red nose fruit

  • Mottled yellowing:Yellowing near the leaf veins, spreading to form yellow-green mottled.
  • Red nose fruit:The fruit pedicle is orange-red, and other parts cannot be colored normally, and the seeds are aborted.

Monitoring report and archive preservation

Plant quarantine agencies need to organize the monitoring results and report them step by step. All original records and image materials should be properly preserved for inspection.

Implementation Suggestions

  • Strengthen training:Ensure that monitoring personnel are familiar with the standard content and operating procedures.
  • Optimize technology:Integrate the latest research results to update monitoring methods and technical means.
  • Information sharing:Establish a national citrus Huanglongbing epidemic information platform to promote data interoperability.
