Introduction
1. Background and significance of standard formulation
GB/T3565.8-2022 "Bicycle Safety Requirements Part 8: Pedal and Drive System Test Methods" is a revision of the international standard ISO4210-8:2014, aiming to improve the safety of my country's bicycle products. This standard mainly tests the strength, durability and reliability of the pedal and drive system of bicycles to ensure that no failure or dangerous conditions will occur under normal use conditions.
2. Comparative analysis of standard frameworks
| Standard dimensions | GB/T3565.8-2022 | ISO4210-8:2014 | Main modifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Test method | Added requirements for pressure plate placement and test requirements for different pedal surfaces | The pressure plate position and pedal surface test details are not clear | More in line with my country's technical conditions |
| Static load strength test | Holding time is 5 minutes | Holding time is 1 minute | Closer to actual usage |
| Tensile strength of drive belt | Tension is 8000N | Tension is 4000N | Consistent with chain strength |
3. Interpretation of key test methods
3.1 Pedal static load strength test
Fix the pedal shaft horizontally on a rigid support, apply a vertical downward force of 1500N to the center of the pedal surface, and maintain for 5 minutes. If the pedal width is less than 75mm, the pressure plate needs to be aligned with the pedal width. Applicable to city and touring bicycles, youth bicycles, mountain bicycles and racing bicycles.
3.2 Drive system fatigue test
It is divided into two stages: the first stage simulates uphill force (the crank is 45° to the horizontal line), and the second stage simulates downhill standing force (the crank is 30° to the horizontal line). Dynamic forces of 1300N and 1800N are applied respectively, and the test cycle is 100,000 times.
4. Implementation suggestions and precautions
- It is recommended that companies establish complete test equipment and testing procedures in accordance with standard requirements.
- During the test, special attention should be paid to the installation angle and force point position of the crank assembly.
- For mountain bikes, extra attention should be paid to the tensile strength test of the drive belt to ensure that it will not fail under high load.
