Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

Elements Technical requirements Implementation points
Composition of the evaluation team 1 team leader + 4-8 evaluators Must pass GB/T 16291.1 training certification
Sample container 1L metal can/wide-mouth glass bottle Need to be sealed with aluminum foil to ensure airtightness
Odor classification 0-4 intensity scale 0.5-level subdivision description is allowed

Key technical requirements

The standard clearly stipulates the selection criteria for basic instruments such as balance (accuracy 0.1g) and ruler (accuracy 1mm). When preparing samples, flexible materials need to be cut into 10cm×5cm specifications, and rigid materials are processed according to the mass volume ratio of 25g/L.

Analysis of implementation difficulties

Typical case: Composite packaging materials need to be sampled according to the surface area ratio of each component, and the ink printing area should be sampled first according to CY/T 127. During implementation, a food packaging company found that the odor intensity at the seam of PET/aluminum foil composite materials could reach level 3.5, which was reduced to level 1 after improving the adhesive formula.

Background of Standard Evolution

This standard establishes a quantitative evaluation system for packaging material odor for the first time, solving the problem of the original industry relying on subjective judgment. Compared with EU EN 1420-1:2016, it adds composite material sampling specifications and more detailed odor classification.

Implementation Suggestions

  1. Establish a standard odor comparison sample library to unify the evaluation scale
  2. The testing room must comply with the temperature and humidity requirements of GB/T 13868
  3. Abnormal data elimination rules: retest when the difference with the median is ≥1.5
