Background and Significance of Standard Formulation

This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and is managed by the Mariculture Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Aquatic Products Standardization. It aims to standardize the cultivation technology of Porphyra yezoensis during the germination period at sea. The formulation of this standard provides an important basis for the large-scale and standardized production of Porphyra yezoensis.

• Applicable to the semi-floating raft cultivation of Porphyra yezoensis in the offshore seedling stage
• Covering terms and definitions, environmental conditions, cultivation facilities, transportation and hanging, cultivation management and other aspects

Implementation recommendations and technology evolution analysis

According to GB/T 35899-2018 standard, it is recommended that in actual production:

1. Environmental selection: Prioritize sea areas with flat bottom and suitable tide level to ensure that the water quality meets the requirements of GB 3097.
2. Facility configuration: Rationally select the specifications of net curtains and raft frames to ensure that the amount of net hanging is moderate, and the distance between platforms is preferably 10~12 m.
3. Seedling management: Inspect the status of net curtains every day, deal with problems such as looseness and sagging in time, and keep the net curtains moist.
4. Technological innovation: Combine modern aquaculture technologies, such as intelligent monitoring systems, to optimize the cultivation environment and management processes.

Explanation of professional terms

Seedling stage: refers to the stage from the time the conchospore seedling net is put into the sea to the time when the seedlings can be seen with the naked eye.

Network: The square net curtain adopts the method of adding edges, and the rectangular net curtain uses polyethylene rope.

Floating hardness: It is suitable to use polyethylene rope with a diameter of 18 mm~22 mm and a length of 150 m~180 m.

Actual application cases

Take Jiangsu Province Laver Association as an example. During the cultivation process at sea during the germination period, the GB/T 35899-2018 standard is strictly followed:

• The net curtain is covered with breathable cloth curtain and sunshade net during transportation to keep it moist.
• The net curtain should be hung before high tide to ensure that the net is flattened and hung tight.
• Inspect and manage every day, and deal with loose or sagging net curtains in time.
