Scope
This standard specifies procedures for human or human stand-in shock response testing and relevant biomechanical data collection and reporting. The standard gives recommended operating procedures related to measurement, test equipment and test report preparation. These recommended practices provide guidance for the interpretation and comparison of data between different organizations. This standard is limited to tests of indirect (inertia) impacts, excluding direct impacts on vehicle surfaces (vehicle barrier impacts, rear impacts, test impacts, etc.) and the use of active suppression devices such as airbags.
