Background and significance of the formulation of the standard
This standard is formulated to unify the understanding of the scope and boundaries of geographical regions in meteorological monitoring and forecasting services and to improve the accuracy of the use of meteorological information. This standard draws on the research results of geographical divisions for different purposes by predecessors, and combines the differences in climate indicators and the characteristics of administrative regional boundaries, terrain and geographical distribution to form a unified geographical division system for meteorological products.
