1. Background and Significance of the Standard
GB/T 36396-2018 Bamei Sheep National Standard was drafted according to the rules given in GB/T1.1-2009, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and managed by the National Technical Committee for Animal Husbandry Standardization (SAC/TC 274). The main drafting units of this standard include the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Animal Husbandry Station and the Bayannur City Livestock Improvement Station of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
2. Breed Characteristics Analysis
2.1 Appearance Characteristics
Bamei sheep is a dual-purpose sheep breed for meat and wool, with a large body, a strong physique, and a symmetrical structure. No horns, no wrinkles on the neck or 1~2 inconspicuous wrinkles, broad and deep chest, straight back and waist, strong limbs, strong hind limbs, plump muscles, barrel-shaped.
2.2 Coat characteristics
The coat is white, well-closed, moderately dense, uniformly fine, mainly $21.6~\mu\mathrm{m} \sim 25.0~\mu\mathrm{m}$. The head to the line connecting the two eyes, the forelimbs to the wrist joints, and the hind limbs to the hocks are all covered with fine hair.

4. Grading and Identification Standards
4.1 Grade Assessment
Sheep whose appearance and production performance meet the requirements of the breed standard, and whose height, length, chest circumference, weight and wool production meet the requirements of Table 2, are rated as Grade 1. Grade 1 sheep whose height, length and chest circumference exceed the Grade 1 standard by 15% or whose weight and wool production exceed the Grade 1 standard by 10% are rated as Special Grade.
