GB/T 36487—2018 Standard Overview

The national standard "Printing Machinery Flexographic Digital Platemaking Machine" (GB/T 36487—2018) specifies the terms and definitions, types and basic parameters, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of flexographic digital platemaking machines. This standard is applicable to external drum laser imaging flexographic digital platemaking machines and provides unified technical specifications for the printing machinery industry.

Terms Definition Application Scenarios
Flexo Digital Platesetter Equipment that uses laser technology to record dot matrix bitmap information on digital flexible plates. Mainly used in the platemaking process before printing, supporting high-precision printing and fast imaging.
Raster Image Processor (RIP) Software and hardware that interprets and converts page description language into output record data. Used to process and optimize the input files of the platesetter to ensure imaging quality.

Technical parameters and type classification

According to the plate format (length × width, in mm), flexographic digital direct platemaking machines can be divided into:

  • Narrow format machine: ≤1193.8×889
  • Medium format machine: >1193.8×889~1524×1066.8
  • Wide format machine: >1524×1066.8~2032×1270
  • Ultra-wide format machine: >2032×1270

Key quality requirements

Imaging accuracy: The platemaking repeatability accuracy should not be greater than 0.015mm (x·y directions).
File format: Supports international standard 1-bit TIFF files.
Noise control: The noise of the whole machine should not be greater than 80 dB(A).

Test methods and inspection rules

Typical test case: Plate making repeatability measurement

Make a graphic document with a size of 300mm×300mm or 500mm×500mm, with "cross" lines at the four corners. Use a reading microscope to measure the outer side dimensions δ_x and δ_y of the cross lines, calculate the repeatability Δδ_x and Δδ_y, and the results should meet the standard requirements.
