Introduction
Interpretation of GB/T 36494—2018 National Standard of the People's Republic of China
Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technical Evolution
GB/T 36494—2018 "Determination of Electrostatic Properties of Glass Fiber Roving" is a standard formulated in accordance with international standardization requirements and in combination with the development status of the domestic glass fiber industry. The formulation of this standard aims to standardize the electrostatic test method of glass fiber roving and improve the level of product quality control.
Comparative Analysis of Two Electrostatic Test Methods
| Dimensions | Method A: Electrostatic Adsorption Method | Method B: Electrostatic Voltage Half-Life Method |
|---|---|---|
| Test Principle | Quality measurement is performed by cutting yarn segments and using the electrostatic adsorption phenomenon. | Apply voltage and measure antistatic ability by discharge time. |
| Applicable scenarios | Applicable to quickly evaluate antistatic performance. | Applicable to detailed analysis of static voltage decay characteristics. |
| Equipment requirements | Electrostatic adsorption measurement device, electronic balance, etc. | Electrostatic voltage half-life measurement instrument, sharp scissors, etc. |
Explanation of professional terms and practical application cases
Electrostatic adsorption mass: Refers to the mass of the yarn segment adsorbed on the stainless steel slope due to the static electricity generated by friction during the cutting process. The smaller the adsorption mass, the stronger the antistatic performance.
Static half-life: The time required for the static voltage on the sample to decay to half of its initial value. The shorter the time, the stronger the antistatic ability.
Actual application case
A glass fiber manufacturer used method A to test the electrostatic adsorption quality of its untwisted roving. By adjusting the cutting time and line speed, it was found that when the linear density specification was 2400 tex, the optimal cutting time was 50 seconds and the electrostatic adsorption quality was 1.2 mg, which met the standard requirements.
Implementation suggestions
1. During the humidity adjustment and test phases, be sure to wear pure cotton gloves to avoid static interference. When using an electronic balance, ensure that the accuracy reaches 0.1 mg.
2. For yarns with high linear density specifications (T≥4800), it is recommended to use a shorter cutting time (20±2 seconds) to obtain accurate test results.
3. When using the static voltage half-life tester, ensure that the voltage at both ends is stable at 150 V, and record the discharge time to two decimal places.
Conclusion
GB/T 36494—2018 provides a scientific and standardized method for the determination of the static properties of glass fiber roving. By reasonably selecting test methods and equipment, enterprises can effectively control product quality and enhance market competitiveness.
