Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 36986-2018 "Dynamic detection method for automobile braking performance" is an important standard formulated to ensure the braking safety of in-use vehicles. With the increase in road traffic density, the safety performance of vehicles has become one of the key factors affecting the traffic accident rate. This standard provides a scientific basis for motor vehicle inspection agencies by standardizing the technical conditions and methods of dynamic detection, thereby effectively reducing the risk of road traffic accidents.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 36986—2018 Reference standards Difference analysis
Scope of application Dynamic inspection and verification of braking performance of in-use vehicles Only applicable to factory inspection of new vehicles The scope of application has been expanded to cover in-use vehicles
Technical conditions Detailed technical requirements for the inspected vehicles and test environment Environmental factors are not specified (such as road adhesion coefficient) Environmental adaptability requirements have been added
Testing methods Road test and flatbed testing Road test is the only method recommended Flatbed testing is added as a supplement

3. Technical conditions for dynamic testing

The core of dynamic testing is to ensure the stability and safety of the vehicle during emergency braking. The following is an interpretation of the key technical conditions:

  • Technical conditions of the vehicle under test: including no-load status, tire pressure, brake system performance, etc., to ensure the validity of the test results.
  • Road test conditions: The adhesion coefficient of the test road surface is required to be no less than 0.7, and the longitudinal slope is required to be no more than 1%, so as to avoid external interference affecting the test results.
  • Flat-type test conditions: Select a flat-type brake test bench with appropriate load capacity, ensure that the surface of the bench is clean and the adhesion coefficient is not less than 0.75.

4. Analysis of dynamic detection methods

4.1 Road test method

The road test method evaluates the braking performance by collecting parameters such as speed, deceleration, and braking distance of the vehicle in real time during braking. The main methods include:

  • Portable brake performance tester: Suitable for rapid on-site detection, it can measure the mean fully exerted deceleration (MFDD) and brake coordination time.
  • Non-contact speedometer: Uses optical or radar technology to measure vehicle speed changes and calculate braking distance and deceleration.
  • GPS technology: Obtain vehicle position changes through differential GPS signals to accurately calculate acceleration/deceleration performance and braking stability.

4.2 Flatbed detection method

The flatbed detection method tests the braking ability of the vehicle on a simulated road surface, and is mainly suitable for vehicles in an unloaded state. Its advantage is that it is not affected by the external environment and the results are more stable.

  • Wheel load and braking force measurement: Obtain the maximum braking force and dynamic wheel load of each wheel through the sensor, and calculate the axle braking rate and vehicle braking rate.
  • Braking imbalance rate: Analyze the difference in braking force between the left and right wheels to ensure the stability of the vehicle during braking.

5. Implementation suggestions and precautions

  1. Equipment calibration: Calibrate the testing equipment regularly to ensure that the measurement accuracy meets the standard requirements.
  2. Environmental monitoring: During the road test, real-time monitoring of wind speed and road conditions is performed to avoid testing under abnormal conditions.
  3. Staff training: Operators must be familiar with standard requirements and equipment usage methods to ensure the standardization of the testing process.
  4. Data recording: Fill in the test records in strict accordance with the requirements of Appendix A and Appendix B for easy traceability and analysis.
