Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

This standard specifies the technical requirements for four types of grounding equipment for voltage source converter (VSC) flexible DC transmission systems:

  • Connecting transformer neutral point grounding resistor: typical resistance 2000-15000Ω
  • DC side grounding resistor: typical resistance 1000-6000kΩ
  • Star-connected reactor grounding equipment: including linear/saturated reactor
  • Grounding transformer equipment: ZN type or YNd type connection

Typical application scenario analysis

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) system

In the ±500kV Zhangbei flexible DC power grid project, the star-connected reactor grounding equipment is used to achieve:

  1. Suppress DC bias current (typical value ≤3%A)
  2. Withstand short-circuit current of 20kA/100ms in case of fault
  3. Zero-sequence reactance is controlled in the range of 5-10Ω

Standard Evolution and Innovation

This standard systematically solves the three major technical problems of VSC-HVDC grounding equipment for the first time:

  • Magnetic saturation problem of reactor caused by DC bias current
  • Resistor inductance control under high frequency conditions (requirement L<0.02R/2πfh)
  • Stability of composite insulation materials at high temperatures of 450-650℃
