Introduction
In-depth interpretation of the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37069—2018 Rules for the Grading and Assessment of First Fall Dormancy
Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technological Evolution
This standard was issued in 2018 to standardize the grading and assessment of first fall dormancy of perennial tetraploid alfalfa. Alfalfa, as an important forage crop, plays an important role in agricultural production and animal husbandry development. With climate change and changes in agricultural production needs, research on the stress resistance and adaptability of alfalfa is becoming increasingly important. This standard is based on many years of scientific research results and combines advanced technologies at home and abroad to provide a scientific basis for the screening and promotion of alfalfa varieties.
Terms and Definitions
Fall dormancy
Refers to the physiological dormancy state that alfalfa enters in autumn due to shortened daylight hours and lower temperatures, which causes changes in plant morphology, growth rate and regeneration ability.
Fall dormancy rate
A dimensionless number representing the degree of fall dormancy in alfalfa, ranging from 0 to 11. The smaller the value, the stronger the fall dormancy.
