Introduction
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37196—2018
Determination of Aldehyde and Ketone Content in Plastic Polyether Polyols/Polymer Polyols
Background and Purpose of Standardization
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Plastic Standardization (SAC/TC15), proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and released in 2018. The main drafting units of this standard include Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Changhua Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. and other industry leading companies.
Overview of Technical Methods
This standard uses high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to determine the aldehyde and ketone content in polyether polyols or polymer polyols, and is suitable for the detection of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein and acetone. Stable hydrazone derivatives are generated by reacting with DNPH (2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine), and their characteristic absorption peaks in the ultraviolet detector are used for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Comparison of standard frameworks
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 37196—2018 | International compatibility | Scope of application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Detection method | High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) | Comply with ISO standard system requirements | Polyether polyols and polymer polyols |
| Detection indicators | Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein and acetone | Compatible with ASTM D5501-97 | Determination of carbonyl-containing compounds |
| Reagent requirements | Analytical grade and HPLC grade reagents | Strictly comply with ISO standards | Laboratory water (GB/T 6682) |
Implementation suggestions and precautions
Case analysis: Critical control points in laboratory operations
- Sample pretreatment:Accurately weigh the sample to ensure complete dissolution, and strictly control the derivatization reaction conditions (60°C, 60 minutes).
- Reagent preparation:Pay attention to aseptic operation when preparing standards and DNPH solutions to avoid contamination affecting the accuracy of the results.
- Instrument calibration:Regularly calibrate the HPLC and UV detector to ensure that the column separation is not less than 1.2 and the wavelength is accurate.
