Determination of the Difference Between Actual and Theoretical ECN42 Triglyceride Content in Grain and Oil Inspection

1. Standard Background and Technical Evolution Analysis

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T1.1-2009, proposed by the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves, and managed by the National Technical Committee for Grain and Oil Standardization (SAC/TC 270). This standard aims to determine whether olive oil is adulterated with other oils by measuring the difference between actual and theoretical ECN42 triglyceride content.

3. Experimental steps

The experiment is mainly divided into two parts: sample preparation and HPLC analysis:

  • Sample preparation:Includes two methods: traditional column chromatography purification and solid phase extraction (SPE) purification.
  • HPLC analysis:After preparing the sample solution, the ECN42 triglyceride content is determined by HPLC.

4. Key data interpretation

When calculating the molar fraction of fatty acids, the peak area percentage measured by gas chromatography needs to be converted into the amount of substance and normalized. For example, the molar fractions of saturated fatty acids (SFA) and unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) at different sites can be obtained by formulas (2) and (3).
