1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 37544—2019 was formulated based on the requirements of my country's "Technical Specifications for Safety of Cosmetics (2015 Edition)", which clearly states that phenol, para-chloro-meta-cresol and other substances are prohibited ingredients. Since these substances may exist as impurities, their content in cosmetics needs to be tested to ensure safety. This standard fills the gap in domestic testing methods for these specific antimicrobial agents and has important industry guidance significance.

3. Implementation suggestions and precautions

3.1 Laboratory conditions

  • Instruments:High-end equipment such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry are required.
  • Reagent materials:Including special chemical reagents such as acetonitrile and formic acid, the purity and storage conditions must be ensured.
  • Staff training:Operators must undergo professional training and be familiar with the operation and maintenance of HPLC and mass spectrometers.

3.2 Sample processing flow

According to different types of cosmetics (aqueous, emulsion, etc.), corresponding extraction methods are used. For example:

  1. For aqueous and emulsion types, the sampling volume is 0.2g, and vortex oscillation and ultrasonic extraction are performed after adding acetonitrile aqueous solution.
  2. For wax-based cosmetics, they must be dissolved in tetrahydrofuran before subsequent processing.

3.3 Result calculation and quality control

Calculate according to the formula w = [(ρ - ρ₀) × V × 1000] / (m × 1000) to ensure the accuracy and precision of the data. The recovery rate should be in the range of 80%-110%, and the relative standard deviation should be less than 10%.
