Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

GB/T38637.2—2020, as the second part of the IoT sensing and control device access series standards, focuses on standardizing the requirements for full life cycle data management when the device is connected to the gateway or platform. The standard constructs a functional framework including four modules: data collection, processing, exchange, and security, which is suitable for the design of IoT systems in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, smart cities, etc.


Key technical requirements

1. Data collection specifications

The standard requires that perception and control devices should support:

  • Mixed collection of structured/unstructured/semi-structured data
  • Multi-protocol conversion capability (such as Modbus to MQTT)
  • Differentiated access solutions for intelligent and non-intelligent devices

Typical application scenarios

In the smart factory, the raw data collected by the temperature sensor is converted through the protocol required by Clause 5.2 of the standard, processed by the data cleaning process specified in Section 6.1.2, and finally stored in a hybrid database that meets the requirements of Section 6.2.4, to achieve real-time monitoring of equipment status and predictive maintenance.


Implementation recommendations

  1. Data security first: Establish a three-level encryption system (transmission/storage/access) in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 8
  2. Architecture-compatible design: Adopt the indirect/direct dual access mode defined in standard 4.2
  3. Quality control closed loop: Establish a data quality KPI monitoring dashboard based on clause 6.1.4

Standard evolution analysis

Compared with the 2016 version of the basic standard, this version adds:

  • Semi-structured data processing requirements (5.1a)
  • Data auditability clause (8.4)
  • Edge computing and cloud collaborative architecture (Figure 2)
