Introduction
Standard Background and Purpose
GB/T 3875-2017 Tungsten Plate National Standard replaces the previous GB/T 3875-2006 version, and mainly revise the manufacturing method, chemical composition, dimensional deviation and density requirements of tungsten plates. The standard was proposed by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Nonferrous Metals.

Technical requirements interpretation
Chemical composition and grade management
The standard clearly states that the chemical composition of tungsten plates should comply with the W1 grade regulations in YS/T 659. This means that all produced tungsten plates must pass chemical analysis to ensure that their impurity content is within the allowable range. For example:
- Iron (Fe): maximum 0.3%;
- Carbon (C): maximum 0.08%;
- Sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P): maximum 0.02% each.
Dimensions and allowable deviations
The standard sets clear requirements for the thickness, width and length of rolled and machined tungsten plates. Take the rolled state as an example:

Density requirements

Appearance quality and process requirements
The standard puts forward strict requirements on the appearance quality of tungsten plates, including:
- Delamination and inclusions are not allowed;
- Slight scratches are allowed on the rolled surface, but the depth does not exceed the allowable deviation;
- The surface roughness Ra of the machined surface should be less than 0.6 µm.
Implementation Suggestions
To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:
- Manufacturers establish a complete chemical composition testing system and calibrate equipment regularly;
- Develop quality control processes for products in different thickness ranges;
- Strengthen research on surface treatment technology to improve the surface quality of machined products.
