Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
The GB/T38784-2020 standard specifies the technical requirements for the entire process from raw material selection to finished product acceptance for three categories of products: suspended floor glass, step glass, and plank glass. The standard systematically defines the terminology system of suspended glass components for the first time and clarifies the differences in performance indicators under different application scenarios.
Comparison of key technical requirements
| Performance indicators | Suspended floor glass | Suspended step glass | Suspended plank road glass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Static load | 800kg/m² maintained for 4h | Same as left | Same as left |
| Dynamic impact | 100kg double impact body 400 times | Same as left | Same as left |
| Impact resistance | 2260g steel ball dropped from 1.8m | Same as left | 5000g steel ball dropped from 1.8m |
| Fragmentation requirements | No penetrating holes | ≤65cm² total amount of fragments | ≤100cm² total amount of fragments |
Material and process specifications
Standard clause 5.1 explicitly allows the use of tempered glass, homogeneous tempered glass and laminated glass combinations, of which:
- Glass substrate: float glass, ultra-clear glass, etc. can be selected, and the thickness deviation must comply with the requirements of Table 5 (such as ±1.5mm when ≤32mm)
- Intermediate film: PVB or ionic intermediate film, transmittance change after aging resistance test ≤5%
- Edge treatment: the chamfer width is mandatory to be ≥1mm, and the exposed edges need to be polished (Clause 6.1.1)
Detailed explanation of key test methods
1. Anti-slip coefficient test
According to JC/T1050-2007 standard, a pendulum friction coefficient tester is used to measure the anti-slip value in dry/wet conditions, and the standard lower limit is 0.5. In actual projects, it is recommended that:
- The humidity environment should be ≥0.6
- The inclined step needs to be increased to above 0.7
2. Shatter safety test
The corner damage test is carried out at extreme temperatures of -20℃ and 60℃, with the following requirements:
- The load is maintained for ≥1 minute after the glass is broken
- The interlayer needs to maintain complete bonding (Clause 6.9)
Implementation suggestions and precautions
- Design stage: Priority should be given to laminated tempered glass combination, and the thickness of the interlayer should be ≥1.52mm
- Construction control: The drilled holes need to be finely ground, and the aperture deviation is <0.5mm (Clause 6.1.2)
- Acceptance focus: Check the overlap (≤2mm/2000mm) and point defect density (Table 1)
- Maintenance requirements: The anti-slip coefficient should be retested every year, and those that are seriously aged need to be replaced
