Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard is equivalent to ISO 14270:2016 and has made technical adjustments based on China's industrial needs. It stipulates the requirements for equipment such as tensile testing machines and the test methods for welded joints with a plate thickness of 0.5-5.0mm.

Key Technical Requirements

Parameters ISO 14270:2016 GB/T 39166-2020
Plate Thickness Range Undefined 0.5-5.0mm
Welding Point Diameter 7t 7t and <12mm
Bending Radius Undefined 2t recommended

Determination of fracture form

The standard clearly defines three types of fracture forms:

  1. Boss fracture: includes symmetrical/asymmetrical forms (Figure 1)
  2. Joint surface fracture: extends along the bonding surface ≤20% of the plate thickness
  3. Partial boss fracture: mixed fracture

Note: When the fracture occurs at the corner, the bending radius needs to be increased and the test should be repeated (Chapter 7)

Implementation points

  • Specimen preparation should give priority to pre-welding bending (thick plate/high-strength steel)
  • Seam weld width measurement should be carried out according to Appendix F
  • The test report must include 10 data such as bending radius and fracture form (Chapter 8)

Differences from ISO standards

Main technical adjustments include: adding GB/T 16825.1 equipment calibration requirements, refining fracture classification terms, and strengthening solder joint position tolerance control (±1mm). See Appendix B for complete differences.
