Key morphological characteristics
River snakehead has typical Perciformes characteristics: dorsal fin VI~VIII, 34~41 vertical rows of scales, head width greater than head height. The key points for identification include:
1. There is a long black spot above and below the base of the pectoral fin
2. The edge of the caudal fin is white and there may be two black spots at the base
3. The peritoneum is grayish white
Key points of genetic testing
The standard stipulates that vertical electrophoresis should be used to analyze the LDH isoenzymes in renal tissue. A normal sample should show 3 enzyme bands. Things to note for chromosome testing:
• Karyotype formula: 2n=2st+42t
• Number of arms NF=44
• It is recommended to use the kidney cell preparation method

2. Growth assessment: The relationship between body weight and length is calculated using the formula W=0.0222L2.9183
