Introduction

Standard Overview

GB/T 39229-2020 is equivalent to ISO 17318:2015 international standard, which specifies the method of using microwave digestion-inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) to determine five heavy metal elements in fertilizers and soil conditioners. The standard is applicable to all types of fertilizer products, and it is particularly noted that the applicability of the method needs to be verified for micronutrient fertilizers.

Typical Application Cases

A compound fertilizer company found that the chromium content exceeded the standard when using this standard for testing. After tracing the source, it was found that the chromium content in the raw material phosphate rock was too high. By changing the raw material supplier, the heavy metal content of the product met the standard. Test data: Cr=112mg/kg (standard limit 50mg/kg).

Based on the validation data of 14 laboratories, the precision statistical model is as follows:

Implementation suggestions

  1. Organic fertilizer samples need to be weighed less to 0.5g to avoid incomplete digestion
  2. For mercury detection, it is recommended to add a cold steam generator to improve sensitivity
  3. Each batch of samples must be accompanied by a quality control sample, and the recovery rate should be controlled at 85-115%

Note:This standard will be officially implemented on June 1, 2021, replacing the original industry method.
