1 Scope
This standard defines terms and definitions related to road vehicle advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
This standard applies to vehicles of categories M, N and О.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Basic terms
2.1.1 advanced driver assistance systems; ADAS
The general term for all systems that monitor the driver, the vehicle and its driving environment in real time with sensing, communication, decision-making and execution devices installed on the vehicle, and use information and/or motion control to assist the driver in performing driving tasks or actively avoiding/mitigating collision consequences.
2.2 Information aid terminology
2.2.1 driver fatigue monitoring; DFM
It monitors the driver's status in real time, sending a prompt when confirming his fatigue.
2.2.2 driver attention monitoring; DAM
It monitors the driver's status in real time, sending out prompts when confirming that the driver's attention is distracted.
2.2.3 traffic signs recognition; TSR
It automatically recognizes the traffic signs on the road section of the vehicle and sends out prompts.
2.2.4 intelligent speed limit information; ISLI
It automatically obtains the speed limit information that the vehicle should comply with under current conditions and monitors the speed of the vehicle in real time. When the speed of the vehicle does not meet or is about to exceed the speed limit range, a prompt will be issued in a timely manner.
2.2.5 curve speed warning; CSW
It monitors the state of the vehicle and the curve ahead, and issues a warning message when the driving speed exceeds the safe speed of the curve.
2.2.6 head-up display; HUD
It displays information in the driver's vision field during normal driving, so that the driver can see the corresponding information without lowering his head.
2.2.7 around view monitoring; AVM
It provides the driver with real-time image information of the environment within a 360° range around the vehicle.
2.2.8 night vision; NV
It provides the driver with visual assistance or warning information at night or in other low-light driving environments.
2.2.9 forward distance monitoring; FDM
It monitors the distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle, and displays the distance information in the form of space or time distance.
2.2.10 forward collision warning; FCW
It monitors the driving environment in front of the vehicle in real time and sends out warning messages when there’s forward collision risk.
2.2.11 rear collision warning; RCW
It monitors the environment behind the vehicle in real time and sends out warning messages when there is a danger of rear collision.
2.2.12 lane departure warning; LDW
It monitors in real-time the driving state of the vehicle in the lane, and sends warning information when there is or is about to appear an unintended lane departure.
2.2.13 lane changing warning; LCW
During the vehicle lane change, it monitors adjacent lanes in real time, and issues warnings when other road users who may be in danger of colliding with the vehicle appearing at the side and/or behind the vehicle.
2.2.14
blind spot detection; BSD It monitors the blind spots of the driver's vision in real time, and issues prompts or warnings when other road users appear in the blind spots of the driver.
2.2.15 side blind spot detection; SBSD
It monitors the side and rear blind spots of the driver’s field of vision, and issues prompts or warnings when other road users appear in the blind spot.
2.2.16 steering blind spot detection; STBSD
During the turning process of the vehicle, it monitors in real-time the driver's steering blind spot, and sends warning messages when other road users appear in the blind spot.
2.2.17 rear cross traffic alert; RCTA
When the vehicle is reversing, it monitors in real-time whether there're other road users approaching the rear of the vehicle and issues warning messages in case of collision risks.
2.2.18 front cross traffic alert; FCTA
When the vehicle is advancing at a low speed, it monitors other road users approaching laterally in front of the vehicle in real time, and issues a warning message in case of a collision risk.
2.2.19 door open warning; DOW
When the door is about to be opened in the parking state, it monitors other road users on the side and behind of the vehicle, and issues a warning message when there is a risk of collision due to the opening of the door.
2.2.20 reversing condition assist; RCA
When the vehicle is reversing, it monitors the environment behind the vehicle in real time and provides the driver with images or warning information.
2.2.21 maneuvering aids for low speed operation; MALSO
When the vehicle is running at a low speed, it detects the obstacles around and provides the driver with images or warning information when the vehicle approaches the obstacles.
2.3 Control auxiliary terms
2.3.1 advanced/automatic emergency braking; AEB
It monitors the driving environment in front of the vehicle, and automatically activates the vehicle braking system to slow down the vehicle in case of collision risks, so as to avoid or reduce the consequences of a collision.
2.3.2 emergency braking assist; EBA
It monitors the driving environment in front of the vehicle in real-time, takes measures in advance to reduce the braking responding time when a collision risk may occur, and assists by increasing the braking pressure when the driver takes a braking operation to avoid or reduce the consequences of a collision.
2.3.3 automatic emergency steering; AES
It monitors the driving environment of the front, side, and rear of the vehicle, and automatically controls the steering of the vehicle in face of collision risks, so as to avoid or reduce the consequences of a collision.
2.3.4 emergency steering assist; ESA
It monitors the driving environment of the front, side and rear side of the vehicle and assists the driver’s steering operations when a collision may occur and the driver has a clear steering intention.
2.3.5 intelligent speed limit control; ISLC
It automatically obtains the speed limit information that the vehicle should comply with under the current conditions to monitor and assist in controlling the speed of the vehicle in real time to keep it within the speed limit.
2.3.6 lane keeping assist; LKA
It monitors in real-time the relative position of the vehicle to the sideline of the lane, and controls the lateral movement of the vehicle continuously or whenever necessary to keep the vehicle in the original lane.
2.3.7 lane centering control; LCC
It monitors in real-time the relative position of the vehicle to the sideline of the lane, and controls the lateral movement of the vehicle continuously and automatically, so that the vehicle always runs in the central area of the lane.
2.3.8 lane departure prevention; LDP
It monitors in real-time the relative position of the vehicle to the sideline of the lane, and controls the lateral movement of the vehicle when the vehicle is about to depart from the lane, assisting the driver to keep the vehicle in the original lane.
2.3.9 intelligent parking assist; IPA
When the vehicle is parking, it automatically detects the parking space and provides the driver with assistance such as parking instructions and/or direction control.
2.3.10 adaptive cruise control; ACC
It monitors in real-time the driving environment in front of the vehicle, and automatically adjusts the driving speed within the set speed range to adapt to changes in the driving environment caused by the vehicles and/or road conditions ahead.
2.3.11 full speed range adaptive cruise control; FSRA
It monitors the driving environment in front of the vehicle in real time, automatically adjusts the driving speed within the set speed range, and may decelerate to stop and automatically start again to adapt to changes in the driving environment caused by the vehicles and/or road conditions ahead.
2.3.12 traffic jam assist; TJA
When a vehicle passes through a congested road section at a low speed, it monitors in real-time the driving environment in front of the vehicle and in adjacent lanes, and automatically controls the lateral or longitudinal movement of the vehicle. The use of some functions requires the driver's confirmation.
2.3.13 anti-maloperation for accelerator pedal; AMAP
When the driver accidentally steps on the accelerator pedal as the vehicle starts or travels at a low speed, leading to sudden acceleration and may collide with surrounding obstacles, it automatically prevents the vehicle from accelerating.
