《GB/T 3959-2008工业无水氯化铝》由TC63（全国化学标准化技术委员会）归口，TC63SC1（全国化学标准化技术委员会无机化工分会）执行，主管部门为中国石油和化学工业联合会。
本标准规定了工业无水氯化铝的要求，试验方法，检验规则，标志、标签，包装、运输、贮存。本标准适用于工业无水氯化铝。该产品主要用作有机化学工业的催化剂。本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ３９５９―１９９４《工业无水氯化铝》。
本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ３９５９―１９９４相比主要变化如下：
―――要求中提高了三个等级的氯化铝含量的指标（１９９４年版３．２，本版４．２）；
―――要求中提高了优等品、合格品的铁含量的指标（１９９４年版３．２，本版４．２）；
―――要求中提高了一等品、合格品的重金属含量的指标（１９９４年版３．２，本版４．２）；
―――试验方法中将氯化铝含量的测定方法改为硝酸银电位滴定法（１９９４年版４．１，本版５．４）；
