Introduction
Standard Overview
GB/T39593-2020 is my country's first national standard for the Northeast Black Bee, which specifies seven categories of technical indicators for this bee species, including terminology, morphological characteristics, and production performance. The standard was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Animal Husbandry Standardization. It will be officially implemented on July 1, 2021.

Technological evolution analysis
This standard establishes a quantitative identification system for the Northeastern black bee for the first time:
- The elbow vein index (2.12±0.12) is introduced as the basis for determining the purity of the variety
- The body color characteristics of the three types of bees are clarified (the queen bee is all black, and the worker bees have brown spots)
- Six production performance grading indicators are formulated
Implementation suggestions
Application case:Bee farmers in Raohe County selected high-quality queen bees through this standard, and the honey production of the bee colony increased by 23%. Suggestions:
- Breeding stage: focus on monitoring the hair index of worker bees (2.02±0.09)
- Production stage: control the size of the swarming colony according to the standard (8-12 frames/swarm)
- Disease prevention and control: reduce the use of antibiotics by using the characteristics of resistance to American foulbrood
Limitations of the standard
The current version does not include molecular biological identification methods. It is recommended to add DNA barcode technology clauses in subsequent revisions. The high temperature resistance (>35℃) index also needs to be supplemented.
