Introduction

Standard Background and Evolution

This standard was upgraded to a national standard based on the implementation of JR/T 0085-2012. It was jointly formulated by the People's Bank of China and more than 20 institutions including China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation. It mainly solves the problem of disordered coding in the fund industry and establishes a unified coding system covering the entire market.

Core term definitions

TermsDefinitionApplication scenarios
Fund product primary code A 6-digit unique identifier based on the fund contract Fund contract filing and regulatory submission
Money market fund Funds that only invest in money market instruments Short-term financial management, cash management
Bond fund Funds that mainly invest in bonds Fixed income investment

Detailed explanation of encoding rules

4.1 Encoding structure

Use 6-bit pure digital encoding, which complies with the requirements of GB 18030-2005 character set.

  • Exchange funds: HS market uses numbers starting with 50-59, SS market uses numbers starting with 15-19
  • Over-the-counter funds: uniformly allocated by the securities and futures industry standardization organization

4.2 Allocation principles

The one contract, one main code system is implemented. Sub-codes are allowed to be allocated under special circumstances:

  1. Funds with different net asset values/returns
  2. Class A/B shares of money market funds
  3. Class C/D shares of bond funds

Implementation suggestions

Requirements for fund managers

1. New products should apply for coding at the same time as the contract is filed
2. Existing products must complete the code supplement before July 2021
3. A main code-sub-code mapping table should be established for multi-share products

Requirements for custodians

1. Establish a code verification mechanism to ensure the code accuracy in transaction messages
2. Fund products that are not coded according to the standard should be rejected
