Introduction

Analysis of the technical framework of the standard

GB/T40487-2021 is my country's first national standard specifically for structural bamboo laminated materials, which has established a complete technical system from raw materials to finished products. The standard innovatively introduces the characteristic values of bamboo mechanical properties into the structural material evaluation system, where the bending elastic modulus takes the average value, and other properties use the 5% quantile value with a 75% confidence level.

Key points of innovation in bonding technology

The standard specifically stipulates that structural bamboo laminated materials must use resorcinol resin (RF) or PRF adhesives. The technological breakthroughs are reflected in:

  • Passed the dual environment applicability verification (humidity 65%/85%)
  • The shear strength of the adhesive layer requires an average value ≥10MPa and a single point ≥6MPa
  • The peeling rate is controlled by a dual-track test (immersion/boiling)

Strength Grade Implementation Guide

The standard divides products into 5 strength grades from 80E-65F to 120E-78F. Attention should be paid to the following during implementation:

  1. The elastic modulus of the plywood should be 1-2 grades higher than that of the integrated wood
  2. The strength of the finger-jointed plywood needs to be corrected by the derating factor
  3. The finger-joint positions of adjacent layers should be kept ≥500mm dislocation
