Interpretation of the core content of the standard

GB/T41157.1-2022 proposes full life cycle technical requirements for grade 1-3 alloy steel fasteners in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants, applicable to bolts, screws and studs of specifications M5-M64, with an upper limit of operating temperature of 370°C.


Key technical requirements

Material specifications

The standard recommends four types of alloy steel materials, including 42CrMo, 40CrMoV, etc., whose chemical composition must meet the requirements of the smelting analysis in Table 1, and the carbon content is controlled at 0.35%-0.48%.

Test method system

Key test comparison

The standard establishes a three-level test system:

  1. Finished product test: wedge load test (7.4), guaranteed load test (7.5)
  2. Material test: machined specimen tensile (7.1), impact (7.9)
  3. Special inspection: magnetic particle/penetrant inspection (7.11), grain size inspection (7.8)

Non-destructive testing requirements

100% surface inspection for M24 specifications:

  • Magnetic particle testing: in accordance with NB/T20003.5
  • Ultrasonic testing: bars shall be accepted in accordance with NB/T20003.2 Level II

Implementation suggestions

Hydrogen embrittlement risk control

For fasteners with hardness>32HRC (tensile strength>1000MPa), the standard recommends taking special measures:

  • Add a dehydrogenation process after phosphating
  • Extend the aging treatment time
  • Use low hydrogen electroplating process

Quality traceability requirements

Mandatory marking requirements stipulated by the standard:

  • Hexagonal head products: manufacturer code + material code marked on the top/side of the head
  • Studs: material code marked on the unthreaded rod
