Key technical requirements

1. Detector deployment principles

When using flame detectors and gas detectors, the following should be followed:

  • Geometric analysis method: Applicable to small equipment (LPG pump sets, etc.)
  • Scenario simulation method: Applicable to large equipment (compressor plants, etc.)

Application case

When a natural gas station adopts 2ooN voting logic, the calculated safety availability of 8 flame detectors is 90%, which can be increased to 99.21% when switching to 1ooN logic (see Appendix B).


2. Safety Integrity Management

Control units must meet the following requirements:

Implementation recommendations

1. Optimization of the assessment process

  1. Establish a three-dimensional model pre-assessment mechanism (Clause 6.1.2)
  2. Use fault tree analysis (FTA) to verify the common cause failure factor β value
  3. Regularly update the equipment failure rate database (Table B.1)

2. Document management specifications

The following should be kept in full:

  • Change impact analysis report (Clause 7.1.2)
  • Fire protection system acceptance documents (Appendix C)
  • MTTR measurement records (Table B.2)

3. Personnel capacity building

Assessment team members should have:

  • Qualification of functional safety engineer (CFSP)
  • HAZOP analysis experience
  • At least 3 yearsSafety Instrument SystemOperation and Maintenance Experience
